Manase Mr. Jesse Sapolu (born March 10, 1961) is a professional football player in the National Football League who played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Sapolu was a centre and offensive guard for the San Francisco 49ers throughout his whole career.
He played his entire career in a 49ers uniform. Jesse Sapolu attended Farrington High School in Honolulu before going on to study at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. Standing 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 278 pounds, he was chosen by the Oakland Invaders in the 17th round (199th overall) in the 1983 United States Football League selection, and by the San Francisco 49ers in the 11th round (289th overall) of the 1983 National Football League draught. On July 10, 1983, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Sapolu is one of six San Francisco 49ers to have won four Super Bowl championship rings (1984, 1988, 1989, and 1994), and he is the only one of them to have done it with the club that won the first championship in 1981 rather than the squad that won the second championship in 1994. In 1993 and 1994, he was selected to the Pro Bowl.
Sapolu has lived in Costa Mesa, California, since his retirement in 1997, and he is still involved in the community, as well as with the San Francisco 49ers Alumni Association. He also serves as an offensive line coach for the Brethren Christian Junior/Senior High School Warriors and the Edison High School Chargers, both of which are located in Huntington Beach, California. Jesse was a key player in the establishment of the Polynesian Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he now serves on the organization’s board of directors.
